Over the summer months of 2016, the youth at Sheridan gave over 1,000 hours of volunteer service, both locally in the city of Lincoln, and beyond. From this work, it’s evident they are truly devoted to serving God and their neighbor. Check out below all the hard work the youth were a part of last summer!
Up In Out Camp
Twenty four students served at Barnabas Community, offering their service of sorting clothes, preparing soups and snacks, tying fleece blankets and cleaning. Students visited the FoodBank and learned about the LPS Backpack Program. Students also served at the ice cream social for the families of VBS and helped with VBS clean up. The resounding comment from this week was “Let’s do this again next summer!” In all, students served for 360 hours!
High School Mission Trip
Eight students and four adults from Sheridan joined with 190 students and adults from the Nebraska Synod and traveled to Kansas City. Sheridan’s students shared that the most memorable experience was with Bishop Brian Maas, who spoke to them about working to unite with others during a racially divided time in our nation’s history. Students also loved handing out water and snacks at the busiest bus stop in KC. In all, the 12 that participated gave 864 hours of service!
