Sheridan has a group of quilters who meet regularly to sew quilts that are distributed to people around the globe displaced by war and/or natural disasters. During the weekend of Nov. 4 & 5, we will take time in worship to bless the 134 blankets as we send them on their way to be utilized by families in need through the ministry of Lutheran World Relief.
More than a quilt…
The purpose of these quilts is to provide warmth, an essential need for people in every climate. In addition to being a cozy, clean bed cover, it can be:
- a baby carrier, tied around a mother’s back
- a market display, spread on the ground and piled with vegetables
- a sack for transporting these goods to market
- a sunshade
- a shawl
- and most importantly, a constant reminder that someone, far away, cares a lot
Thanks to our Sheridan Quilters for working on our behalf to provide warmth and comfort for people around the globe! Sheridan’s Quilting Group meets the first and third Tuesday of each month throughout the year. To learn more about this group and to get involved with this group, contact Kathy Paisley.
