This week rostered leaders (pastors and deacons), congregational delegates and mission partners from ELCA churches across Nebraska will gather for our annual Nebraska Synod Assembly. This year the Synod Assembly is special in that an election for Bishop of the Nebraska Synod will take place. Bishop Brian Maas has completed his first term and is eligible for reelection, but we ask for your prayers as part of this process. We are grateful for his call to serve. The assembly is also a time of learning, serving and uplifting of ministries throughout the church.
“Building on the Foundation” is the theme this year and each congregation is invited to bring a wood block to build the foundation of a cross. Each block will be decorated by the congregation so that it represents every expression of what it means to be the church together.
Sheridan will be represented by pastors Greg Bouvier and Michelle Oetken, Deacon Kathy Paisley, delegates Joy Huber, John and Bonnie Kennedy, Ken and Ruth Majors and Verlen and Becky Ritterbush.
The Nebraska Synod Assembly affirms the joy, strength and diversity of the Lutheran Church in Nebraska!
