Sheridan member, Anne Kubr, recently completed the Nebraska Synod’s two year spiritual direction institute, Seeking the Spirit Within, and received her certification as a Spiritual Director. Seeking the Spirit Within Institute is one of the first synod-based programs to train Spiritual Directors and is celebrating its 10th anniversary. This program was featured in the June issue of Living Lutheran. Others from Sheridan certified as Spiritual Directors through this program are Eric Bostrom, Patty Forsberg and Kathy Paisley.
Spiritual direction is a time set apart to help in strengthening one’s relationship with God. Directees meet one-on-one with a Spiritual Director for about an hour each month. The director is there to create a sacred space for directees to explore the presence and movement of God in their lives. In this way directees begin to discover, contemplate and work with the deeper joys and/or concerns they have within their relationship with God.
