For more than a decade Sheridan has partnered with the Food Bank of Lincoln’s BackPack Program which provides food backpacks for children and their families. This program provides a weekend of meals for students in the “BackPack Club” during the school year. This bag includes five meals and frequently has a voucher for milk, eggs and bread.

The people of Sheridan have always been generous to this program since the beginning. In fact, Sheridan was recognized recently for giving over $100,000 cumulative since the beginning of the program. Today, the funding needs of the BackPack Program have changed and more donors are at the table. This is great for our children in need in the community of Lincoln!
Sheridan’s Sponsor Weekend – August 11 & 12
We continue to need your financial support for the children in the BackPack Program at Holmes Elementary School. You are invited to sponsor a backpack. To sponsor a backpack for the year is $225; although sponsorship donations can be any amount. If you wish to sponsor a backpack, visit the BackPack Program table in the Family Life Center August 11 & 12, or place your financial gift in the offering plate, labeled BackPack Program.
Many volunteers are needed throughout the school year to help make this program work. Volunteer commitments can be one time or ongoing. Some opportunities require extra training and background checks. Sign up at the BackPack Program table in the Family Life Center, online or contact us.
New this year
Any donations that exceed the goalfor Sheridan’s support of the BackPack Program will be given to support the Teammates Mentoring Program in the Lincoln Public Schools. You can find more information about the TeamMates program or steps in becoming a TeamMate online at lincolnteammates.org.
