Women’s Devotion: Giving Thanks

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. I like the attention to thankfulness for the day as well as the month of November. Thanksgiving is a great day of food and family for us to enjoy. It is a time to reflect on all that God as provided especially during this year.
A few years ago, I started a gratitude journal after being given one at our Women’s Retreat. I have been surprised at how being thankful for the simplest items from God have helped me to improve my attitude. It also helps me focus on what God has been providing for me or others. Let us all look for the gifts from God during this season.
God, thank you for all that you have and will provide for us. Please continue to wrap your arms around us during these trying times. Please help to open our eyes to your miracles. Amen.
