Join us in Children's Ministry!

Sheridan’s Children’s Ministry loves having new friends join us throughout the year on Sunday morning or Wednesday nights.
We want your first experience to be awesome, so when you arrive, stop by the Connections Center nearest to door #3 for a brief welcome and orientation.
You can pre-register to save yourself some time before your first visit. Contact Julie Hestermann with any questions you may have.

Children's Ministry Resources

  • Mission Partners for Offering

Children will have the opportunity to participate in mission projects throughout the year through their Sunday School and Wednesdays @ the Well offering. Offering envelopes are available at the Connections Center. The mission projects for the entire Sunday School year are listed beginning in September. We invite you to talk with your children about each of these projects and to keep the mission recipients in your prayers.
September & October: School scholarships for children in Tanzania or Haiti
      November & December: Barnabas Community
      January: Haiti VBS
      February & March: Global Barnyard
      April & May: Children's Garden
  • Safeguarding God's Children

Sheridan Lutheran Church has embraced this program geared to preventing and responding to child sexual abuse. If we can all change one life, together we will make a difference in this generation of children. Learn More...
  • First Communion Instruction

Is your child expressing interest in fully participating in Holy Communion? Twice a year, in the spring and fall, we offer First Communion classes for children younger than 5th grade who are ready to receive this sacrament. Children must be accompanied by a parent, grandparent or guardian to this class that only serves as an introduction. Children are still encouraged to attend the Faith Stepping Stone class in 5th grade on the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
  • Bible Memory Work

As Deuteronomy 6:1-9 says, "Never forget these commands that I am giving you today. Teach them to your children. Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working...Write them on the doorpost of your houses and on your gates." Each family involved in the Children's Ministry of Sheridan Lutheran is encouraged to memorize selected portions of Scripture, the Catechism as well as the Books of the Bible. Studies prove that the earlier children begin to memorize, the longer these truths and facts will stay with them. Repetition and memorization is a very meaningful tool to help children discover truths from God’s Word. Children have the entire school year to work on this memory work but they are invited to recite the memory assignment to one of their teachers earlier if they are ready. Children are also encouraged to learn the memory work of preceding grades. Bible Memory Work Worksheet
