Sheridan Lutheran Church has a wide variety of ways to make a difference. To see how you can help:

Volunteer Inside Sheridan

For some ministries, we use iVolunteer, an online volunteer scheduler, to give you the opportunity to sign up for serving when it is convenient for you. If you have questions about the specific ministries, please contact the church office at 402-423-4769, via email at info@sheridanlutheran.org or you are more than welcome to stop by the church office.

At Sheridan, volunteers interested in helping with our children, confirmation and youth ministries must complete Safeguarding God's Children training and a background check prior to the start of their volunteer experience.

Volunteer Sign Up

Annually, we ask our Sheridan members and friends to complete a Ministry Opportunity Sheet indicating the areas of ministry they feel called to serve. The reason we ask this to be done yearly is because sometimes interests change or our availability changes, and we want to be up to date on those. This Ministry Opportunity Sheet is often completed in conjunction with Stewardship as we talk about time, talents and treasures, but it may be completed at any time. Complete your Ministry Opportunity Sheet online.

    Current Volunteer Opportunities

Do you feel called? Here are our current opportunities:
  • Praise Team Members -Consider being a part of Sheridan’s praise team (singer or instrumentalist). Auditions will be on Jan. 24 & 25. We are looking for bassists, guitarists, keyboardist, and vocalists. If you feel called to use your gifts to lead worship, contact Molly Schmit to reserve an audition time and get audition material.
  • Lent & Holy Week Drama Participants - During Lent and Holy Week, Sheridan shares a dramatic interpretation of the last days of Jesus’ life. All those interested in speaking and non-speaking roles, props, costumes or makeup are welcome to be a part of this exciting ministry. Sign up at the Welcome Center or contact Diane Dames.
  • Worship Visuals Presenters - Consider learning a new skill. We need more people to advance the worship slides for worship at Sheridan. This could be a once-a-month commitment; or special events. Contact Bryan Tepe for more information.
  • Barnabas Bakers - Can you bake or buy cookies once a month for the Barnabas Community? Sign up at the Welcome Center.
  • Scripture Readers

One way you can be a spiritual part of the worship service is by reading the scripture lesson for the day. The public reading of the scripture has been an essential part of worship for many years and it remains a central authority for our spiritual lives. If you have any questions or want to be a Scripture reader, please contact Brenda Carpenter b.carpenter@sheridanlutheran.org.
