Habitat Build in Lincoln 2014
For many years, Sheridan has partnered with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity to provide safe and affordable housing for residents of Lincoln. Sheridan Lutheran gave a donation of $5,000 to support the building of this house.
Meet the Family
The family for the 2014 Thrivent Build house is Ziyad Khudir & Aede Al-Dukhi and their three children.
Originally from Iraq, Ziyad worked as a linguist for the United States Military for 4 years in Iraq. While working with the Army, he became friends with a man from Omaha. Through his friend he was able to learn about Nebraska and how wonderful it is to live here.
After paperwork and waiting Ziyad and his family moved to Lincoln in 2011 and have been here ever since. Ziyad works full-time caring for his family. A dream of his is to go back to school.
Aede currently stays home with their 3 young children–sons Kanan, 4 ½; Yaser, 2 ½ and daughter Yara, 18 months.
