God Sighting: Nebraska Synod Bishop Election

Nebraska Synod Bishop Election
Being present and participating in the election of a bishop is a special experience, and this year’s election of Pastor Scott Alan Johnson was no exception. Pastor Johnson was elected on the fifth and final ballot. He emerged as bishop, while not having been the leading candidate throughout the process. The Spirit was clearly at work!
Pastor Johnson is currently serving as director of campus ministries at Midland University in Fremont, and has since 2019. He served as pastor of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City, Iowa, from 2012 to 2019; as campus pastor at University Lutheran Center at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, from 2008 to 2012; and as pastor of Peace Lutheran Church in Barrett, Minn., from 2003 to 2007. Bishop Elect Johnson will take office Sept. 1, and his installation is scheduled for Sept. 24 at First Lutheran Church in Kearney.
We give thanks for our partnership with the Nebraska Synod, ELCA, and we believe that God is at work in our midst!
