Variety of Emotions

As we sit (delayed) at Eppley in Omaha, I am filled with a variety of emotions. First and foremost, I am fairly overwhelmed with how Sheridan has been in the midst of our Anniversary Celebrations. We have had so many positive experiences over the last month. Guest preachers, special worship services and especially our Anniversary Celebrations. It feels so good being the church at this chapter and stage of our life together.

At the same time, I’m feeling a bit nervous about the trip. This is my fifth time to Tanzania and so I really have no fears of being there. Our brothers and sisters in Tanzania are so hospitable. They truly make it special. However, being in Tanzania is an experience that makes me rely so much on grace and faith. Being unable to speak the language and not being at all in charge, I find myself at the mercy of the forces around me. I, like every person, am challenged by this. Yet, I am also stretched to grow, as I am dependent. Honestly, this is part of why I love traveling to Tanzania. I believe this to be spiritual discipline and it helps me be more faithful.

Thank you for your prayers of support for our group. Thank you for being such a great church home. I am already looking forward to my return, bolstered by the work of God’s benevolent Spirit within me while I’m gone.
