Excitement

“Say to Daughter Zion: See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Matthew 21:5 (NIV)

On Sunday, Pastor Rhonda shared about the momentum and excitement that leads up to big events, such as the Olympics. We hear stories about our prized athletes and feel a personal connection to each of them. We wait expectantly for the games when we get to cheer for our country and hope for medals.

Olympic athletes deserve recognition and our support. Do we share this excitement for our Savior? Do we seek His face and long to know more about Him? Do we wait expectantly for Jesus’s death and resurrection?

My favorite part of the Palm Sunday story is the description of Jesus as “gentle.”
Jesus, who took away all of our sins by dying on the cross, deserves the most recognition of all. He deserves the Olympics opening ceremonies. Yet, He rides into Jerusalem
on a donkey with the people surrounding Him.

This week, I am in awe of the humble servant God gave to us in His own son. I want to learn more about Jesus, walk with Him, and give Him the recognition He deserves. I pray that we all experience the hope and promise of new life in Christ Jesus.

Dear Heavenly Father, please help us to acknowledge what You have done in our lives. Thank you for sending Your son to forgive our sins. Help us to walk with You this week, and may the momentum we have for You not fade away. Amen.
