Women’s Devotion: Finding God’s Glory in the Everyday
“And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory!” (Isaiah 6:3)
When we look at the average schedule for a woman today, we will likely see a list that rivals any corporate executive’s. Between careers, managing households, nurturing relationships, and carrying the emotional loads of our families, it is incredibly easy to feel exhausted. The noise of our daily “to-do” lists can easily drown out the peace of God. We often look for God only in grand, spiritual mountaintop moments, missing the simple fact that His majesty is everywhere.
Isaiah was given a breathtaking glimpse into heaven. Surrounded by seraphim, he heard the declaration: “the whole earth is filled with His glory.” This isn’t a past or future promise. It is a present reality. Right now, in the exact world we live in—with all its brokenness, stress, and chaotic pace—God’s glory is actively filling it.
How does this reality help us navigate the endless stream of daily tasks?
First, it shifts our perspective on the mundane. When we realize that God’s glory fills the whole earth, the daily grind takes on a holy dimension. Folding laundry, preparing meals, or sitting in heavy traffic are not just tedious chores; they are opportunities to steward the life and people God has entrusted to you. When your tasks are done for His glory, they become acts of worship.
Second, it offers an anchor in the overwhelm. In our modern, overstimulated world, it is easy to feel defeated by the sheer volume of things demanding our attention. But fixing our eyes on the Creator behind the creation reminds us of the One we serve. When our mind is focused on His holiness, the anxieties that come from worldly striving begin to shrink.
Last, it invites us to pause. Isaiah’s vision was meant to transform his daily life and calling. We can mirror this by carving out intentional moments of stillness in our day. Step outside, take a deep breath, and acknowledge the beauty of the world around us. Let the sun, the quiet, or a moment of prayer remind us that He is God, and we are held in the palm of His hand.
Today, as you face your routine, challenge yourself to become a “glory-hunter.” When you encounter a beautiful moment, finish a difficult task, or simply take a breath of fresh air, pause and silently thank God for His presence. Let the truth that the earth is full of His glory carry you through the busiest part of your day, replacing your weariness with His steadfast peace.
Lord, thank You for filling the earth with Your glory. Forgive me for getting so caught up in the busyness of my life that I fail to see Your presence all around me. Help me to view my daily tasks as an opportunity to honor You. When I feel overwhelmed, remind me of Your holiness and give me the grace to pause and rest in You. Amen.
