You’re invited to Backpack Sunday!
Join us for one of our worship services for a special backpack blessing and you can receive a blessing tag to put on your bag for the year.
After worship, come celebrate the beginning of the school year with:
- Food will be available.
- Outdoor fellowship and activities are available throughout the church property. Opportunities will include balloon art, temporary tattoos, outdoor activities, carnival games with prizes and more.
- No registration or fee is necessary to participate; simply come when you are able.
This fellowship event has been generously funded by the Sheridan Foundation.

Food Bank of Lincoln - Backpack Program
For more than a decade Sheridan has partnered with the Food Bank of Lincoln’s BackPack Program to provide extra food for children and their families each week of the school year. In addition to non-perishable food items, vouchers for fresh bread, eggs, and milk are included. Sheridan provides these bags for students at Holmes Elementary School and served 75 families during the 2025-2026 school year.
Volunteers are essential for this ministry. Food is purchased from the Food Bank of Lincoln, bags are packed at Sheridan, transported to Holmes Elementary School, and delivered to student classrooms; all by volunteers from the Sheridan community.

This ministry is highlighted each year in early August. Each bag costs $275 for the year, and you are invited to sponsor a backpack for the year with $275.
