Buy a Bible Project

Twenty years ago the decision was made to place Bibles in our pews. This was controversial, as most Lutheran churches had hymnals and not Bibles. The decision was made to place an emphasis on God’s Word and these Bibles remain in our pews today. After 20 years of use, it is obvious that our pew Bibles are worn. Some have been replaced, although the new edition’s page sequence is just a little bit off!
In April you may provide a Bible through Sheridan’s “Buy A Bible” emphasis, as we replace all of our pew Bibles and offer age-appropriate Bibles for our children. Our goal is to raise funds to supply 500 NRSV Bibles ($10), 185 Spark Storybook Bibles for early readers ($15), 185 Frolic Bibles for babies and toddlers ($15) and some Large Print Bibles ($25). These will make God’s Word available to all ages of worshipers.
Prayerfully consider purchasing a Bible in honor or memory of someone you love. Bookplates will be placed inside the front cover. Our “old” Bibles will be moved to classrooms in the church, used at Barnabas Community and offered to those in need of a Bible at home. Donate to give a Bible online, or visit the table in the Great Hall or inquire in the church office.
