Sheridan believes a week at camp can help students experience God in the ordinary and often renews and even jump starts a closer relationship with God. Camp is an important part of our children and youth ministries. During the summer we like to think of it as an extension of our programming here. It’s a part of our ministry. Each summer we promote a “Sheridan Week” to allow our Sheridan children and youth the comfort of recognizing fellow youth. Families may register for any week of the summer that works for their schedule.
Camperships
To help with costs, and to show support of camping ministry, camperships are available for each Sheridan child to participate in one session at an ELCA Lutheran summer camp, (up to $100 for a full week overnight camp session and $50 for a partial week or day camp session).
To request a campership for your child, contact Julie Hestermann.
How to Register
Families are asked to mail in registrations with deposits directly to the desired camp, but let the church know when your child is planning on attending so we can connect you with other families from Sheridan. Additional information for each camp is available below or at the Connections Center in the Education Wing of the building.
Carol Joy Holling Camp – Ashland
Carol Joy Holling Camp (CJH) is not just a place where we “send” our young people. We are partners. It is a great resource for us, whether it’s taking kids and youth there for a life-changing week in the summer or a weekend retreat during the year.
For just a short drive to Ashland, (camp is located next to Mahoney State Park) you and your child can have a safe, fun-filled camping experience centered on Christ. Carol Joy Holling camp is a leader in age-appropriate programming and opportunities for your child to grow in their relationship with Christ. You may choose to register your child for any week of the summer, we simply want to give families the option of attending with other Sheridan families.
Sheridan Week at Carol Joy Holling Camp
You may choose any week that works for your family. As a way to help create bonds between familiar Sheridan families, each summer, we suggest a specific week for our young people to head to Carol Joy Holling Camp together.
