Days 1 & 2 in El Salvador

El-Salvador-2

Day 1:

Other than a short delay deplaning in Miami, all our flights went smoothly. We met up with our friends from North Carolina and are getting to know them. They are the ones in the picture: Alan, Brooke and Ryan.
We’re staying at the same hotel as last year, which is right on the town square. There is some sort of celebration going on tonight so we’ve been listening to lots of free music.
Tomorrow, we will have our orientation to learn more about the housing situation in El Salvador, do some shopping and worship with our friends at Cristo Rey.

Day 2:

During orientation, we heard some of the history of the country and about the current housing needs and how Habitat is working to address them.
Pastor Carlos had a wonderful message for us at church talking about how each individual’s needs are important to God and we, as God’s people, are called to help address those needs. We were surprised with a couple performances by the young people of the congregation. The younger children danced to a song about Noah’s Ark while the older children danced to a song about God’s power.
Everyone is excited to get to work tomorrow!
