Seasons
Please take the time to read Ecclesiastes 3:1-15
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” In Ecclesiastes, Solomon, in his great wisdom, states that there are seasons in our lives that require us to acknowledge. He points out that there are cycles of life, each with its work for us to do. Although we will face many problems, with the right attitude, we will look at them as opportunities to grow in his kingdom and share with others.
Life happens. We experience joys and sorrows, trials and victories, plantings and harvest. In last Sunday’s sermon, Pastor Michelle explained to us about plants that need to be stressed so they might become stronger. Living in wheat country for many years, my husband and I marveled at the sturdiness of the wheat plant that endured harsh winds, drought conditions, and extreme heat. The wheat plants still grew strong and produced an abundant wheat crop. Despite the challenging growing seasons, the wheat shaft proudly held its head high waving in the summer breeze.
We, too, can thrive through hard, painful times. In the darkest of times, we can grow the closest to God. Through God’s word, prayers, and the love and support of family and friends we cultivate our faith and grow nearer to Him. When our rainy season ends we use our hands and feet to encourage and comfort others who are facing a challenging season in life. The Holy Spirit walks with us as we share with others our own rainy seasons and how the Lord saw us “through”. We can be confident in our faith that God will never forsake us.
In Deuteronomy, Moses assures the Israelites that “the Lord your God goes with you; he will neither leave you nor forsake you.” Of that we can be sure!

Thank you for walking with us during those difficult seasons in our lives. Strengthen our faith during these growing opportunities and harvest a deeper faith in you that we might help and comfort others. Stay near to us. Amen
