Women’s Ministry Devotion: Does it Matter?

Does it ever seem like your service to God is insignificant? “Not everyone can do great things, but all of us can do small things in great love,” is attributed to Mother Teresa. When we least expect it, we can make a difference by serving in the moment with small deeds that demonstrate our faith.

But someone will say, “One person has faith, another has actions.” My answer is, “Show me how anyone can have faith without actions. I will show you my faith by my action.” (James 2:18)

There are many ways to serve God. Most of us serve in our homes, at work, in our neighborhoods and our church. We may not feel we are doing much, but God sees how we serve and treat others. We can serve our family, friends, and strangers by doing small things such as giving a smile, saying a kind word or offering a helpful hand.

God doesn’t measure our lives the way society does, but by the way we live. Spiritual development is measured by our actions in our everyday life. Everyone can make a difference one deed at a time. It seems the most humble people make the most difference and get the least recognition, but I believe God is paying attention and smiling at every small deed.
Lord show us ways we might serve you right here, right now in this season of our lives. Use our small acts to help us grow in our love for you and service to others. Amen.
