Freedom in Christ

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful trip back East. During that trip, we spent time in Boston. What a great historical city! We enjoyed wandering the “Freedom Trail” and seeing so many famous sites, such as the Boston Massacre, Old North Church, Paul Revere’s house, and the Old State House. It’s amazing to see all of these historical buildings that have been preserved for over two hundred years. These buildings and sites in which our forefathers helped to being about our country’s independence still impress upon us the many sacrifices and risks people endured for future generations to be free. I’ll be thinking of this more than usual this Fourth of July!

Not only have our forefathers fought for our freedom but each day we should also remember that God has given us a freedom that endures through the ultimate sacrifice of His son Jesus to die for our sins. God has also given us innumerable gifts through His wondrous creation that we are free to see all around us. May we celebrate His gifts daily and give thanks for all He has done for us. May we also strive to serve Him by helping others less fortunate and passing along His word and love in our day-to-day lives.
