God Sighting: Sharing Talents

You may have noticed the new garage at the south end of our Sheridan property. Our congregation benefited from the work of Sheridan member, Jason Patefield, who spearheaded the project.

Two years ago, when Sheridan entered into an agreement to provide space for Allo to have a long-term leased building on Sheridan’s campus, Jason was part of the construction team for that project. In the midst of those conversations, he became aware of our goal to have a garage to expand our storage.

Not long after the Allo project was completed, Jason approached Pastor Greg with the idea that he could design and build a garage. Having the funds from Allo gave us the ability to consider and ultimately move forward with this project. Jason worked with Mark Vollmer, our Facilities Manager and other key volunteers. “I did enjoy building the garage and getting to know Mark along the way. I hope it brings many years of good use! I’m glad I could help out!” Jason said.

Soon the shed was designed, bids were secured and construction began. Jason spearheaded the effort and was seen, many summer evenings until after dusk, using his skills to put on the finishing touches.

We now have a wonderfully finished garage that serves our church well! As he was being thanked Jason once said, “You know, I really have never given much to any church I’ve ever been part of. I figured it was time.”

We remain grateful for Jason’s work in building the garage. Even more, his story is a moving example of discerning God’s call and the sharing of all three elements of stewardship – time, talent and treasure.
