God Sighting: Thank You, Mavis!

Sheridan overflows with people who serve the church, without recognition or reward, without fanfare or fuss. They serve with friendliness, commitment, and dedication! One such servant is Mavis Brinkman!
When you see Mavis, please thank her for 23 years of weekly managing the little “red pew pads” we all sign at each worship service! Simple, behind the scenes, essential. But more than the task is the commitment, dedication, and the person behind the task! This is a God-Sighting!
A Sheridan member of 66 years, Mavis shows us the kind of genuine, compassionate friendliness encouraged in the recent sermon series, “Survival of the Friendliest!” Mention Mavis in the Sheridan office and all will tell you how much they love her! The quilting group, her worship friends, Sheridan card players and Esther Circle, all feel the same!
Desta (Osborne), shared about her friend’s compassion and caring! While quilting and visiting, “we can easily recognize how loyal Mavis is to God!” “We put the layers together and Mavis’s specialty is difficult corners, so we call on her expertise for HELP!” She is a wonderful companion for her church friends and family! Mavis helped the quilters create 194 quilts in this year alone! She is a member of the Prayer Chain and SOLOS, and, according to her worship friends, has a wonderful singing voice!
When you see Mavis around church this month, wish her a very special Happy Birthday and thank her for 23 years, and counting, of faithful service to the church community and God’s work!
