On Wednesday, August 26, LPD Officer Mario Herrera was tragically shot
while serving a warrant. After several days of fighting for his life in the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries on September 7. In addition to his
role as an investigator, he was a devoted husband and a father of four.

Heartbroken by this tragedy, the Lincoln Police Union set out to host several fundraisers to support the family of Officer Herrera. When they approached us about hosting a fundraiser, we were more than happy to help!

On September 24, volunteers gathered at Sheridan to host a drive-thru spaghetti feed fundraiser. Our kitchen, hallways and parking lot were home to an altruistic frenzy of warming and transporting meals and ushering hundreds of cars through the drive-thru. Approximately 2,000 meals were sold, and over $30,000 was raised! All proceeds went to the Herrera family. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this event happen.

Sheridan was blessed to have this opportunity to share abundantly with the greater Lincoln community. Please continue to pray for the Herrera family
and the Lincoln Police Department as they mourn the loss of a husband, father, and a courageous officer.
