Vacation Bible School and Up In Out Blessings

This June, we were grateful for the opportunity to host Vacation Bible School and Up In Out Camp! Though these experiences looked a little different than they have in the past, both were great successes that shared the love of God with others.

We welcomed nearly 275 children and 150 volunteers for five fun days of Rocky Railway VBS. Our volunteers played many vital roles, such as leading worship, making sure participants arrived and left VBS safely, leading crews, guiding activities, providing medical resources and much more. Most importantly, our volunteers helped teach children that Jesus’ power pulls us through life’s ups and downs!

Like Pastor Greg said in VBS Sunday worship, attending VBS as a child has a substantial effect on one’s faith in the future. Thank you to everyone who played a part in this faith formation—your help has made a great impact.

In addition, we raised $904 and collected dozens of bath towels that will benefit Pine Ridge Reconciliation Center, our VBS offering recipient. Thank you for your generosity!

28 middle school youth participated in Up In Out Camp alongside five caring adults. This compassionate-hearted group did great work to serve Sheridan and the greater Lincoln community!

The group’s on-site service included tending Sheridan’s garden, pulling weeds, washing tables and the church buses and writing notes of encouragement to the high school youth going on the Youth Mission Trip and the Sheridan staff.

Participants served the community by making tie blankets, decorating pillowcases, food containers and paper bags, baking cookies, packaging soup mixes, making window clings for Tabitha Martha House and packing health kits, including 46 foot care kits, 46 infant kits and 303 emergency kits—a total of 395 kits!

The group also made trips to Barnabas Community, where they learned about their ministry, sorted clothing at the free store and helped set up for Communion.

Up In Out Camp was amazing. Many thanks to all the youth who participated, worked hard, served with compassionate hearts and shared joy with each other in awesome ways. Our hearts are full and we give thanks to God for the opportunity to make a difference in our community through our week together!
