God Sightings Through Faith Stepping Stones

One of the things that has stood out to me most through Faith Stepping Stones is the intentionality behind it. Matt and I have been so impressed by the amount of time, prayer, and thought our leaders put into discipling our children every year.

Many of the leaders have been teaching these classes for a long time, and you can see the consistency and care they have for the children. It’s a beautiful reminder that as a church, we are not simply teaching our children about God, but we are helping prepare them for what it is like walking with God in whatever comes throughout our days.

We’ve also seen the impact at home. The classes have created more thoughtful conversations with our girls about faith and God. They often come home with observations and a curiosity that gives us opportunities to talk about why we believe what we believe and why we practice certain things as people of a Lutheran faith.

I especially love seeing that curiosity grow because they are beginning to understand that faith and believing in Jesus is integrated in their soul and that it impacts their character. They are learning more and more to recognize God’s presence in what happens at school, in what they hear about happening in the world, and in the things that personally affect them.

For me, that has been one of the greatest God sightings through Faith Stepping Stones: watching our children begin to notice God for themselves. The classes are giving them a foundation, but they are also helping them develop eyes to see where God is already working in their lives. And as a parent, there is something very meaningful about getting to witness their faith take root and grow.
