Haiti Scholarships Create Futures with Hope!

Women-in-Classroom

HTF‘s mission is to foster hope and sustainability with dignity. Our vision is that ALL may have life!

women-in-classroomIn Haiti, Haitian Timoun Foundation partners with St. Joseph Family, Tetkole, and CLM (Chemen Lavi Miyò, which means “Pathway to a Better Life”). These partners are dedicated to assisting families with clean water, food and education; often life-giving necessities that foster “sustainability with dignity”.

Through the St. Joseph Family, there is the Trinity House. This house is host to Lekol sen Trinite, a day school for approximately 120 children; the Rejoice School, a program that provides educational opportunities for restavek (enslaved) children and the Nouvo Vi Bakery. When our Sheridan VBS team travels to Haiti, Trinity House is our sanctuary and where we set up our VBS camp. We are provided with wonderful food (fresh bread daily from the bakery!), clean water and we are cared for on deep, spiritual levels.

Powerful Fact about Education in Haiti

There is a cost for education in Haiti. Many, many families simply cannot afford to send their child(ren) to school. Only thirty percent (30%) of all Haitian children attend school, only 20% of those children finish elementary school, and less than 1% of them graduate from high school.

HTF is changing the landscape of education for many families in Haiti through Lekòl sen Trinitè in the Jacmel area and providing education to make it possible for all CLM mothers to be able to send their children to school in the Central Plateau.

Help Sponsor a Child’s School Costs

For the children at Lekol Sen Trinite, it costs about $30 a month for a child to attend school until the age of 14. Following Lekol Sen Trinite, the students can attend other schools in Jacmel but there is a substantially higher cost of $65 a month. Many Sheridan members currently provide a monthly sponsorship through HTF for the children at Lekol Sen Trinite. Recently, twelve students have reached and surpassed the age to attend Lekol Sen Trinite and thanks to the generosity of a Sheridan couple and their friends, money was donated so that these students are able to currently attend school in Jacmel! But your help is needed to send even more students to school.
