Sunshine Prayer

Draw or paint a picture of the sun with rays coming from it. Inside the sun write the words ‘God cares’. On each ray, write the name of someone you would like to pray for. Take time to pray for these people either at breakfast time, supper time or just before bed.

Praying in Color

Use colors and shapes to illustrate your prayers with the words or names in your heart. Doodle and allow your pen to follow your imagination express how you feel to God.

Letter to God

Write a letter to God. Tell him know your hopes, dreams and fears for the future. Ask him your questions and share your worries. You may even want to write a letter to yourself, from God – letting God tell you how beloved you are!

Notes of Kindness/Thanks

Write some old-fashioned letters and cards this summer to people in your life you are grateful for or may not have heard from you in awhile. Leave a note for someone you may see everyday that you don’t often tell how much you appreciate them.

Share Stories

Seek out someone in your family or your community and ask them about their faith journey. Or tell your children about your journey. What was your experience of Sunday School or confirmation or church like when you (or they) were small? Did your parents and grandparents attend church? Where else do you express your faith? You may also consider writing your story – even if you expect no one else to ever read it.
