Disconnect

Many of us live noisy lives nowadays. We can run through our days without the need to form our own thoughts if we want to. Spend some thoughtful prayer time considering how all this input from the world affects your inside – emotionally and spiritually. What would you like to disconnect from – tv, phone, email, busy-ness, Facebook? Ask God to help you find ways to disconnect and find space in your day.

Eliminate Hurry!

“Many years ago, when I asked Dallas Willard how to have a healthy soul, he responded with a single sentence: ‘You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.’ “ –John Ortberg. Thoughtfully consider the pattern of your days and your weeks and how a change of pace might impact your life. What would you like to eliminate? What/who would you like to spend more time with? If you don’t see ways you can slow down, ask God to show you.

10 Most Wanted List

Either by yourself or with your children, make a “Ten Most Wanted” list or poster. Think of ten people who may need prayer or who you would like to pray for. These can be relatives, neighbors, famous people, or the man who works at the convenience store. Be encouraged to pray for someone you don’t get along with or like very much. Use this list or poster to remind you to pray for these people in your daily prayers.
