How to have a faithful summer

Ok – there are certainly thousands of ways to be faithful, especially in the summer. Even so, we would like to offer a pile of ideas for mindfully and thoughtfully and faithfully proceeding into these glorious summer months.
CREATE A SUMMER PLAN. Summer can be a time of growth and refreshment in our Spiritual Life – but it helps if we plan accordingly and think ahead. What are your priorities for this next few months? Some ideas for an emotionally and spiritually healthy summer could include regular time for: scripture, silence and solitude, daily prayer, study, Sabbath keeping, play and recreation, service, exercise, family and friends.
CONNECT. Consider how and with what and whom you would like to be connected with this summer. Do you long for more connection with your family or with God or the outdoors? Find ways to reinforce those connections. Most relationships involve spending time with the other. What would you like that time to look like? Is there anything getting in the way of you spending that time? Ask God to help you discover what that is and how you can deal with or remove it.
START A JOURNAL. It could be a thankfulness journal, prayer journal, daily journal or whenever-you-feel-the-urge journal. Write your hopes and your fears and your deepest desires, knowing that God is listening and longs for more relationship with you. Write knowing that you may not end up where you began.
… to be continued!
