Let It Go

I think there is a reason the song “Let It Go” from the movie Frozen is such a hit. There are simply times in life where you’ve lived one chapter and it’s time to turn the page and enter the next. You have to just let go of your planning, preparation and experience the future that God has prepared for us. Well, that’s where we are. After a year of preparation for the Haiti VBS, we are ready for the 301 children to come tomorrow morning. We’ve had lots of orientation on camp curriculum, living quarters, how to stay healthy while here – and yes, flushing the toilet! All while doing this, we’ve grown in our friendship to one another, and we’ve depended upon God’s grace through it all.

Today we heard the history of the camp after breakfast and then we shared worship together. A young adult named Emil from the St. Joseph family gave a moving rendition of his original poem called Glory to God. We also shared communion and anointed each other for service this week. It was meaningful. After our long travels, it was wonderful to center on God’s promises.

After lunch we had orientation and language exchange. There was lots of laughter and encouragement as Kreyol speakers learned English and English speakers spoke Kreyol.

Keep us in prayer as the children will come tomorrow at 8 AM (perhaps before that because they’re so excited!). Our prayer is to trust our training and preparation and then to “Let it Go” as the week of faith formation and fun begins!
