Music Ministry

There are many ways to share your gift of music with the Sheridan community. Below are the ways in which you can become involved today.

Celebration Choir

The Celebration Choir is a mixed choir open to all adults – high school age and older. The Celebration Choir sings in worship several times throughout the year. They sing a wide variety of styles and participate in special events and special services such as our Christmas Cantata and Holy Week Worship. Prior to performing in worship, the choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings in the Music Room. Be sure to check the Bulletin and website for upcoming choir opportunities.

Current Opportunities:

  • Rehearsals: Wed., Sept. 16 & Wed., Sept. 23
    • Sing in all worships: Sun., Sept. 27
Praise Teams

Our Praise Team consists of many vocalists and instrumentalists (piano, keys, acoustic and electric guitar, bass, percussion, violin, mandolin) that make up the team of musicians that lead worship each week under the direction of Molly Schmit. Our praise singers and band members are scheduled throughout the month based on their availability. Experience in a band setting and ability to read lead sheets is preferred, but we are always open to auditioning new members. Music is essential to our worship experience and an integral part of worship at Sheridan.

The Sunday Praise team rehearses every Tuesday evening in the Worship Center from 7:30-9:00pm.
Our Saturday team rehearses on Saturday prior to worship.

Contact Molly Schmit to for more information.

Youth Praise Team

Sheridan offers many youth music opportunities for middle and high school students, including the Youth Praise Team. The Youth Praise Team leads music for Wednesday worship services throughout the school year. This team is comprised of any middle or high school youth musician that want to share their gift of music. We are always looking for additional singers, band and orchestra players to join the team. Youth music is led by Treyson Rassfeld, Sheridan’s Music Associate.

Orchestra

The Sheridan orchestra is made up of gifted individuals, high school and older, who have experience and training in their specific instrument. They play for special services and events. The orchestra is comprised of any string, brass or woodwind instrument and they accompany our full praise band in worship.

Contact Molly Schmit for more information or to become involved.

Christmas Cantata

The annual Christmas Cantata will be in December. Sheridan’s Celebration Choir will be presenting the Cantata at all services.  Anyone high school age and older are encouraged to sing.  The choir will be joined by scripture readers, narrator and a chamber orchestra. The cantata is an amazing work with traditional and contemporary influences. All are welcome to sing!

Children's Music

Music programming for children at Sheridan focuses on learning how to praise God through voice, movement and instruments. Opening gatherings, praise teams and hands-on musical games and activities are integral parts of this learning. Music programming is offered September – May for preschool through 5th grade and children are welcome to join in any time throughout the year.

Drama Ministry

Adults and/or high school youth periodically share dramas during the Sunday services to enhance and reinforce the message of the sermon.

The youth drama ministry (middle & high school youth) meets the first Wednesday of each month during the school year.  Small groups plan and share dramas in worship during Wednesdays @ the Well worship.

Children Grades 1-5 participate in drama through the Children’s Christmas program and special events.

Holy Week

Sheridan’s Drama Ministry is very busy during Lent. Dramas are shared during weekend or Wednesday worship. Holy Week evening worship on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday are special services where we walk with Jesus and those surrounding him on his journey through the Last Supper and the Crucifixion through worship, drama and music.
