Ministry Coverage & Interim Information March 2022

With the departure of Pastors Rhonda and Eric Bostrom, Sheridan will experience an “interim period” as we await the filling of the vacated positions. Be aware that we will not be calling an interim pastor for either position. With a national clergy shortage, we will not ask our Synod to provide an interim pastor. We trust that with the patience of our Sheridan members, and the help from within our congregation, that we will be able to meet the needs of those for whom we care.

• Pastoral Care will be provided by Pastors Greg and Michelle, with extra support from Deacon, Kathy Paisley and Anne Kubr. Each will provide assistance, as needed with follow-ups to the Prayer Chain, hospital visits and the coordination of our hospital visitation program. Pastors will still be on-call for emergencies.
• Cheri Peterson will still provide elder care, as she has done so well for so many years.
• Adult Education will continue to be led by Julie Hestermann, a position she shared with Pastor Eric. The goal will be to arrange for a greater presence of lay leaders who will teach at Sheridan.
• Dwight Thiemann remains our amazing leader of Barnabas Community. He has a great board, other staff members and volunteers who help serve the needs of the community through the Barnabas Community Center Free Store.
• Judy Sorensen and Rose Bouvier continue to spearhead the Tanzania Scholarship Ministry.
• Haiti, El Salvador and Habitat ministries have been on somewhat of a pause because of both the ongoing pandemic and the political climate within the nations of our ministry partners.

The ultimate goal is to call one pastor and to hire a Coordinator of Missions and Outreach. We believe it is unlikely that we would be able to call two full-time pastors, so we will seek to add high-energy and well-organized people to our staff who will strengthen our ministry.
