Update from the Missions Team in El Salvador
Day 3:
Our first two days of work went really well. Everyone has been working together and getting to know each other better, both within our team and with the masons. We’ve moved a lot of dirt (many diggers at the bottom and Jim up top), sifted a lot of sand and made many new friends. When we’re working on the street in front of the house, we generate some attention and two neighbors have asked to learn more about Habitat.We’re looking forward to making pupusas  (the national dish of El Salvador) and then eating them tonight.
Day 4:
Today, we visited the Getsemanà women’s co-op to see old friends and learn about their current projects. Our interpreter for the week, Douglas, is receiving a scholarship from the co-op to finish his degree.
We worked hard continuing to move dirt for the rest of the morning and early afternoon. Then, we cleaned up quickly for our soccer game. Both teams scored, everyone had fun, and there were no major injuries.
Day 5:
We had a full work day today, including loading a large truck with extra dirt from inside the house to haul away. Everyone worked well together to get the job done.After work, we stopped at the home of the parents of one of the home owners and they fed us some delicious food. They are all so generous!
We’re ready for our last day of work and our goodbye party to spend as much time as we can with our new friends.
