Prank Calls Reported

It has come to our attention that a handful of Sheridan families have received prank and inappropriate phone calls from a person(s) claiming to be affiliated with Sheridan Lutheran Church. Please know that we are monitoring this situation and have responded by removing both our password-protected online directory and business directory from our website and have contacted the Lincoln Police Department, who are thoroughly investigating this matter. The phone number used in these prank calls is a Skype default number 661-748-0240. A simple web search will provide you with information about this nation-wide prank avenue.
We have every reason to believe this prank is random and is not perpetrated by anyone within the Sheridan church family. We ask you to respond in these ways:
• If you have or do receive any inappropriate phone calls, please phone LPD (402-441-7204) and reference case #B4-041459
• We also ask that you would commit to prayer those who have been recipients of these calls as well as those who perpetuate fear. We stand in solidarity with all those who have been the victim of harassment.
Be assured that all Sheridan staff, volunteers and elected leaders have been thoroughly trained to identify the signs of harassment and abuse. Sheridan has been a leader in the “Safeguarding God’s Children” curriculum and has a set of best practices in place.
Our instinctive response to a situation like this is to live in isolation and fear. We believe that God calls us to be courageous and together in a worshiping community. Thank you for your willingness to join in making the love of God known in our church home and family.
