Safe Gatherings

Sheridan Lutheran strives to offer a safe environment for young people to learn and grow in their faith. Therefore, the leadership of Sheridan feels strongly that each caring adult who works with Sheridan’s young people be trained to prevent child sexual abuse. This training is required for any adults helping with any of the children’s or youth ministry programs, including VBS or summer mission trips.

Safe Gatherings (formerly Safeguarding God’s Children) training provides participants with the information they need to protect vulnerable populations, including children they know and care for both in their personal lives and in the ministries in which they serve. Come find out how parents, church leaders, volunteers and staff can both safeguard the children they work with as well as protect themselves and the volunteers and other adults who work with children. We can all be trained eyes and ears in this effort to protect children. This program is based on the philosophy that if every adult can protect just one child, they will forever change one life and if we can all change one life, together we can make a difference in this generation of children.

All volunteers will need to complete an at-home virtual training, submit a background check and two references. Your ministry leader will reach out to you to start this process.
