Summer Reading List
It’s nearly summer, and Sheridan’s leaders are letting you know what they have been reading, or plan to read in the next couple of months. Feel free to take a look at these resources and read along with them. Some of the books listed below may become available in Sheridan’s OneSent Market. You can also check out Amazon to download or purchase these books. If you use Amazon Smile, Sheridan is eligable to receive .5% portion of your purchase after you designate Sheridan Lutheran Church as your charity.
Pastor Greg Bouvier
Each summer, in conjunction with my sabbatical and “abiding month” I try to read a book or two to help me grow in my ministry and to fill my heart. My plan this summer is to read two books – each very different from the other and both to help inspire and “grow” me.
The Green Boat: Reviving Ourselves in Our Capsized Culture by Lincoln native, Mary Pipher: Said to be both profound and practical as it explains how we can tend to our world with balance and great love. It is about our environment of Nebraska, but it is more about how committed people can bring hope in the midst of a hopeless situation.
The second book I plan to read is by Charles Duhigg. I had read The Power of Habit and it helped me in my leadership and personal disciplines. His new book, Smarter Faster Better: The Secrets of Being Productive in Life and Business I’m hoping will continue to foster me in my goal of working more efficiently, so that I might lead a more balance life.

Richard Rohr’s Daily Meditation
I read these devotions most every morning and they give me fresh insight into myself, grace, sin, life, and God. To subscribe go to cac.org and click on “Email Sign Up.”

A Witness. The Haiti Earthquake, A Song, Death and Resurrection by Renee Splichal Larson. Pastor Rhonda wrote this reflection on her Facebook page, “It took me three nights to read this. I experienced memories, inconsolable grief, tears, tissues, laughter, faith, love and hope. I even cried one day at work! It was a great way to honor Ben, Renee, Jon and the entire Larson family. We are so fortunate to have known you all. God bless you Larson family and God bless all of Haiti!”
