Sunday travel to Jacmel and the beach

Sunday was a travel day. We ate our breakfast at 7am, worshiped together on the roof of St Joe’s at 8am, and we left about 9am. We arrived in Jacmel around noon. We stopped first at a grocery store to pick up some breakfast food and other snack items. Then we went to the HTF which was Verbo’s former house to unload, get settled in, and rest a bit. At 2:30pm a tap tap picked us up to go to the beach.
The tap tap was open in the back so we could stand while driving. While at the beach it started to rain so we found a beach side restaurant with a thatch roof. This moment of disappointment over the rain actually turned into a delightful memory as we enjoyed a local Haitian band, we danced, and we ordered drinks and French fries. Dinner was at Gladys’ house. She cooks authentic and amazing Haitian food for HTF groups. We ate fish, conch, lobster, fried plantains, and spicy coleslaw. Gladys’ cooking is always a highlight of the trip for me. Tomorrow we do an eye clinic at Lekol Sen Trinite at the Trinity House. I’m looking forward to seeing the building progress on The new Wings of Hope. It’s being built next to the Trinity House and might be done by the end of the year.
