Thankful in Tanzania

I was leery of taking this journey during Thanksgiving and leaving my family but God had a plan. So, thankful to God. Only, He can provide for us.

Tom and I have begun the long journey back to the United States. The worship at Mudio this weekend was very meaningful. During the service, a couple came forward to give thanks for surviving a car accident. A group of people joined the couple to also give thanks. I felt overwhelmed with thanks for this trip and I joined the group. Thankful for arriving safely, no one got sick, and the friendships we have here in the diocese.

Thankful for meeting with five university students. We had lively conversation and laughter. These young women and men received scholarships during high school and on to university. They are now employed as teachers and nurses.

The joy in seeing the Nuru girls and boys march in wearing tuxedos! The boys had red bow ties. Pastor Joshua gave a speech informing the audience how he goes to the Maasai fathers and encourages them to send their children to school. The fathers agree to send one child and the other three can care for the cows. The 38 students are very thankful for the opportunity to attend school.

Pastor Joshua and his vision of starting six building projects! Tom and I had the honor of blessing five. Joshua believes nothing is impossible with the help of God.

Thankful for assisting a girl at Vunjo who needed a scholarship and daladala fare to leave her abusive stepfather and go live with her fraternal grandmother. She was traumatized and could not speak but the headmistress intervened and explained her situation.

Two years ago, the headmaster at Masama Girls started a dormitory to house 128 girls. The dorm is so more girls can join the school and study science subjects. Tanzania needs more high school students to study science.

Last, Sister Lillian and her management of the Christian Bookshop. Her bookshop is thriving with business.
