Udoro Church Construction Progresses

Through our special gifts in Advent and the Readiness Fund, Sheridan continues to help to construct the new church building for Udoro Lutheran Church in Mudio, Tanzania.

A little about Udoro

This church serves as a satellite congregation to our sister congregation, the larger Mudio Lutheran Church. Pastor Christosia Ngowi presides over both parishes and the leaders of the congregation aid in outreach, missional development to the community, Christian education through Sunday School and Confirmation classes, visitation to the sick and homebound, and so much more. We are so proud to partner with these amazing people to accomplish God’s work. Udoro serves as a beacon of light in the neighborhood. More people in the neighborhood have access to worship and are given the chance to hear the amazing promise of God’s love for us all in Jesus Christ. Thanks be to God for this work and partnership! Udoro is a congregation numbering about 100. Worship is at 7 AM on Sundays and Sunday School for the children follows. Originally, this church building was made of mud and sticks. The structure lasted for about 30 years.

Construction History

In the spring of 2014, the congregation had a work day and tore down the old structure that was on the verge of collapse. They then placed the original framework and metal roof inside the unfinished concrete walls of the current church building.

Progress Photos

Now, with our help, the permanent roof is going up. Electricity is being wired into the walls, and materials for the concrete floor have arrived. No more mud during the rainy season! We look forward to watching the construction progress.

May 2015 Update

ConstantContact_UdoroUpdateOur friends at Udoro continue with the building progress for their church. A few Sundays ago, the church was packed as the new roof was complete and the old, smaller structure was taken down. Church leaders at Mudio called upon worshipers there to give generously in order to partner with our offerings from Sheridan.
