Women’s Ministry Devotion: Unceasing Prayer
“Pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:17-19
Praying has not always come easy for me. I struggle with how to pray, what to say, or wonder if I’m praying for the right things.
Yet as a busy mother of three, I often find myself wondering how I can stop to pray or be thankful in all circumstances when I’m trying to organize crazy schedules, referee arguments, or come up with yet another creative answer to the age old question of “why?” that has been asked a million times over within a 30 minute timespan. (Moms, you know what I’m talking about.)
As I’ve reflected on this passage I’ve began to realize that God promises to be with me in all of the struggles of life and I need to rely more heavily on the power of prayer. This IS the will of God; He does want us to pray all the time, and lift our worries, hopes, dreams and cares up to him. Instead of worrying about how to pray, I can find my comfort in knowing and trusting that God hears my humble prayers, everyday and in every situation. I can lean into the wisdom and love of my heavenly parent!
Being a mom is a blessing, and instead of trying to always be the creative multitasker we all think we need to be, we should lift our prayers to God and trust that we are doing God’s will. It will be then that we can sit back, enjoy, and be thankful for all of the ways in which He has blessed our lives and trusted us with His precious children.
Lord, remind me to access your listening heart and ear through prayer. Amen.
